Dear Cancer: 5 years ago today, a single phone call reunited us. While our relationship was toxic and abusive, and a few times I was afraid for my life, you taught me more than I could ever imagine while we were together.
You taught me just how magical and resilient our bodies and minds can be. To live for the present. That life is too short to not get what we want. To dream big. To love loud. To take risks and to plan. You taught me the power of love, of friendship, of laughter. You taught me to ask for and accept help. You taught me to love me and to love others. You were the greatest gift I never wanted.
Iām also really glad to say you are 5 years gone. š
Thank you for the lessons. Thank you for my life. I will not take it for granted.
